88 2wd motor selection

Hey guys, this is my first post here. Always on here looking at the cool builds and searching for information. So now I got a question of my own. I recently picked up a 88 2wd 22re, its super clean but the motor is junk. (And its an auto, not for long though) I pulled to motor with the plan to rebuild a running 22re I got in the garage from the bottom up and dropping it in. Then I got thinking I wanted more power (and I like a project) so my question is what are the easier swaps to do on a 2wd I've seen threads on a bunch of 4x4s and don't know if doing a 4.3 a v8 in a 2wd is different or impossible. Or if the rear end and everything thing else would have to be changed. If anyone has done any swaps into a 2wd or knows of threads on them. Or maybe I just didn't find them because I'm blind. If my question is stupid stupid answers excepted. Here's some pics of the rigs.

Not knowing your skill level I would suggest just doing the rebuild and daily driving it as it is. When doing a swap there is fabrication, wiring, making the other motor operate with the body. A swap on a two wheel wouldn't be any more then a four wheel. Maybe adding a body lift of some sort might be needed.

Thanks for your input. I was thinking a body lift might be needed. I have a decent skill level and a buddy who would help with the fabrication. Just building the motor and running it is probably the best bet but I'll be into it around a grand or more and will end up with around 120hp. A bit of work and money to still be pretty much stock.. Was just entertaining other options.
