On a ifs axle the splines on locking hubs are smaller than on a solid axle. can I replace that part that slides on the splines on the locking side. on a 86 toyota axle

 

i do believe you need the hubs for a solid axle. i wouldnt mess around with trying to interchange parts within hubs. just buy a 85 and older set

Personally I would get the Longfield gears since you're going to want them eventually anyways and give it a try. Then report back here so everyone knows for sure.
