I have a 1986 Toyota pickup with the 22R-TE (turbo charged) and am wanting to swap in a 5 speed manual trans and I am wondering what transmission I will need and what model I would be able to get it out of. Thanks for your help.

 

The 5 speed turbo models came from the factory w/ an r151 transmission, but a w56 will also work.

 

Once you have swapped trans...would you like to seel the automatic trans?

I bought a 86 Turbo 4Runner, automatic, from a guy who ran the trans fluid out I replaced the fluid, filter and all three shift solinoids...does not run! Any suggestions as to what else I can look for/fix? Ban tightening?

What trans will fit the 22re motor that's in it now? I've read that a v6 trans will work, what years? Will all 4 cly auto trans work? Also read that a Jeep trans will work, what years model ?

Pump failure on the A/T will do that. It should at least pick the first gear / reverse clutch pack.

You need a w56 trans, flywheel, pilot bearing & clutch, along with second & third pedal w/ hydraulics.

 

I have a turbo trans (R151) for sale out of an 86' pickup. Truck had 115K on it when pulled.
