Well I guess my fuel pump went out on my '86 4Runner... but that is what I get for running around on empty ha...

Anyways anyone know where I can get a new pump at for the best price? How much do these run? I'm not to sure...

I got this from 4Crawler's website:

"In the 1st generation Toyota 4Runners, there is a handy access hatch under the rear seat cushions. Remove the screws that hold it in place and the fuel pump is easily accessible. It is held in with some screws and you can remove and replace it without draining and dropping the gas tank."

So this hatch is under the rear seats? Like fold the seats down?

Hell I'll go outside now and see... probably isn't that hard...

Yup nevermind... right under the passenger side rear cushion... so that should make things a lot easier...

I have the habit to post before I go out and look...

But does $100 seem alright for a new pump? Or is there a place to get them cheaper?

Would this one from eBay work?

Anyone?

Best place to order fuel pump? Does certain brand matter? Does price matter for fuel pump?

Will the one from Advanced for $100 be alright?

I want to go this part tomorrow and start putting it in...

Any input is appreciated...

message strap22, he works at a dealer and might be able to get you a good price on a genuine toy part.

Sounds like a deal,I had to put one in my 89 T4R and paid $50 at a boneyard for it cause up here in Canada they are about$350 new at parts stores! When you replace it make sure you inspect and clean all of the lines coming out of the sending unit. I took a wire brush and knocked off a pile of rust only to reveal 3 pinhole leks that would have caused me some grief down the road.I just replaced the main fuel line right from the pump with some stainless fuel line from the parts store, saved me from speding $300 on a new sending unit from the stealership! Happy Trails.
