86 22RE 4Runner

so i went to get it smogged and it wont pass because the timing is at 26 and it should be at 5

and also the HC was at 131 and that is the max for CA but it still passed all emmissions part...

any suggestions i should do other than time it correctly?

Well, if you correctly reset the timing, the rest of the exhaust emissions will probably come right into spec.

Before you attempt to adjust the timing, test the TPS for proper adjustment and function. It will be impossible to correctly set the timing with a bad or incorrectly adjusted TPS.

well i timed it to 5 degrees and it ran like ☺☺☺☺☺ and it would barely hold 55 so i said screw it and took it to the smog shop and it passed with flying colors, so i just put it back to 12 degrees so it runs and can actually do 80...so idk...could something be screwed up with my truck??
