4runner vent window

Was it mid year that the vent window was eliminated for the 4runner? I have an 89 with the vent window and i was under the impression that in 89 they were gone. The door jam has a build date of 88 so i am curious if they just ended up selling the truck at a later date and titling it as an 89.

Thanks

My '90 has 'em. I like 'em, but man they are noisy when open on the highway.

I started to remove mine and go with the full size glass. But as it turns out, the doors are slightly different. It's not simply a matter of swapping the regulator and glass.

The vent windows are notorious for rusting inside.

My 92 pickup and 82 pickup have them but all the other trucks we have laying around here don't. I didn't know they existed on the newer trucks till I bought my 92.

I think that if it had the interior package, you got the big door windows (no vent).

Does anyone have the vent windows and also power windows.
I have the vents with no power. I would really like to add power windows one day. I wonder if it will be a problem...

My 89 SR5 v6 5spd has wing windows... it has every option except inclino and the , power windows and locks, sr5 door panels and cloth headliner... it has everything else tho... it even has A/C...
btw i LOVE the wing windows they are one of the things that makes me love my 89'... i will never sell it.
If yours squeak, it's because you need new seals which are like $30 each from the dealer, AND/OR the frame is rusted out, causing the windows not to seal perfectly.
Mine does not whistle at all after i fixed this, but if i go through a powerwasher they do leak a bit, but no whistling.

my knob is broken on the driver side, anyone know where to get a replacement for just the knob? makes a hell of scream on the highway, but if i turn the circulate air switch on its a lot better.

I've got a '90 SR5 with everything but power locks and windows, would really love some power locks though!

My 87 SR5 runner has 'em, and it's loaded, everything except inclinometer. It seems that they are common on 1st gens and rare on 2nd gens.

Vent Window won't stay open?!

My '92 PU has the vent windows, but one won't stay open. As soon as I pick up enough speed for the wind velocity to push it closed, I'm outta luck again...and I really prefer the fresh air over A/C if it's not too hot...anyway, anybody know quickly what's causing the problem (I haven't removed any door parts at this point to fully investigate), maybe a bushing or similar item?...thanks...

Best I can come up with is the pivots may be worn a bit... it happened to an old ford e250 I drove at job I had. If they are bolt up/screw down types you may be able to either replace or tighten them up a bit if they are riveted type then you might have to drill out the rivet and replace it with a couple of nylon washers a bolt and a nylok nut. It won't look as pretty but it may work for you.
I'd take the panel off and check the lower one first since that is the one most likely to be a bolt up and should be easy to fix with a washer or two, just make sure one of them is nylon/plastic so you get a little "slip" or you might never get the window open.
