Give the gas tank near the fuel pump a couple taps with a hammer and see if it works. Also check to make sure all your air and vacuum lines are hooked up and connected good. What engine do you have? Both engines create such a high vacuum, one tiny air line not connected will cause the engine not to start.

"Start up and die in 2 seconds" sounds like a problem in the COR/VFM circuit. It's easy to check; jumper FP to B+ in the diagnostic connector. If it runs then, you've found the problem.

(Don't drive with the jumper in ! The COR shuts off the fuel pump when the engine stops sucking air. If you get in a crash that breaks a fuel line, do you want the fuel pump to keep running? I didn't think so.)

Check the wiring and make sure the plug is snuggly attached to the Air Flow Meter.
