4runner shut off

I was trying today and i was on my way to my house and i tried to turn on my lights but my 94 4runner with a 3.0 just shut off. When I was waiting for a friend to come and give me a jump I noticed this fast ticking nosie was going on when the door was shut and the key was off. but when the key was in the on possition it made no nosie. Also when the ticking was going on if u turned the lights on it slowed the ticking down. then I trired to jump it and it started up then died again and it did this about twice. Any Ideas?

i would start with the obvious. try disconnecting the battery. the relay might be stuck. then start with the fuses. try to isolate were the ticking is coming from and the search function on here might help as well good luck

i would check the wiring with your lights and the fuses. Could have a short or maybe a bad ground somewhere. Probably going to be a pain to troubleshoot but only thing to do unless someone chimes in that had the same issue and knows the solutions
