I was attempting to swap an rotted liftgate out of my 90 2dr 4runner. The best donor I could find was off a 4dr so i bought it, but now I'm finding that the wiring harness inside the rear panel that the door harness hooks up to is incompatible. Is this common that it would be different harnesses for 2dr to 4dr. Is there a way around this? Is there any info on the liftgate wiring procedure?

Swap the harness from one to the other.

 

forgot to mention the one thats rotted on there right now was actually a replacement from another 4dr version, so switching them doest make any difference as they both have the same wiring harness

 

What exactly is different? More/less wiring? or just different clips?

 

the hatches have the same wiring but they wont correspond to the truck's wiring am guessing that both the hatches I have are from 4dr models

 

Yes, but how does the truck and gate wiring clips differ? Do they have more/less wires? different clips?
