4runner hard top rust

Can you repalce the metal sides on the fiberglass 4runner top? If so are they available new, or something to get from a donor hard top? I was thinking bout welding on some new metal but that is some thin stuff.

When i did a rebuild of my top i replaced both of mine becuase they were rusted out.

I cannot remember if you have to remove the window to get them out or not... i am sure there was some reason why i had to take my windows out.

I found 2 in rust free condition for $10, then i just sanded and panted. But it may be harder to find these rust free where you live because it seems to be pretty common to rust out.

You have to take the window out because the L-trim screws on from the back side. It is held on the top with butyl tape, which you need to cut through.
