There is no such thing as a bolt on leaf spring conversion. It would take custom fabrication, because you would have to cut off all of the linked stuff from your current axle (or get an axle from a truck) and then weld perches on and weld hangers on your frame for the leafs.

Why are you wanting to go leaf so bad ? Are you planning to steal the rear lift off this truck from the junkyard as well? Coils are really a much better suspension if you can set it up correctly, if only to avoid axle wrap...

i'm more comfortable with the leaf set up just because it seems to make more sense to me... coming form the backyard camaro era. yea, i know, this is a completely different setup, but i think they are stronger and have a more asthetic apprearance.
a little grind and weld never hurt anyone.

Well hey man, do whatever you want I guess... heck while you're at it do a SAS (if you're already welding and stuff...)

still wondering - are there any vehicles that would be better to take the leaf springs for use with the coil-to-leaf conversion. i mean - like the chevy 1/2 ton or straight from another toyo that happens to have leafs.

The best would be all depending on the ammount of lift you want... Close to stock - Toyota leafs... Not close to stock 53" Chevys...

So now for my previous question that still needs answering - I located a source for two 476mm LC coils. So I am wondering what the stock coils on my runner should have been? I wanna know this to see if the coils will get me close or not... Thanks...

Yes you must have the diff drop brackets, or all you did was make your trash can really heavy for $30...

As far as the springs I cant tell you, but I do know this... DO A LEAF SWAP Going over 4" on a 90-95 is really not that good, espically w/out the drop brackets for the LCA, and the lift brackets for the UCA, and the panhard drop bar.. take a look at these threads to see what I mean...

or a brand new 5 inch leaf pack that comes with everything you need to put them in from all-pro, marlin, trail-gear or whoever you prefer. Little pricey but hey its another option.

Yes it is an option, If I were to go leafs I'd just grab a pickups trucks rear axle ($40), and some chevy leafs ($10/pr.) and go from there... Now the question is if I went with the leafsprung rear - shou ld I grab the 86's rear or the 3rd gen 2wd pickup rear and just swap axle shafts, the engine bay tag says the 3rd gen is 4.10:1. (same as mine) So I should be able to swap the shafts and keep the bolt pattern, correct? Thanks for any imput...

OK here is the newest addition to my lift - a leafsprung Toyota axle. I decided this was the more simple way to do it and cheaper ($15.00 - for the axle)

Now all I need is....

Wheel spacers (for the front for tire clearance)
Longer brake lines
4- 4" lift shocks
Leafsprings (88-98 Chevy 1/2 ton) Has anyone used Ford leafs?
Stock Toyota leaf perches
And a weekend to install it... I will probably do the rear on my 2 week x-mas shut down... And then do the front at a loater date....
Hey that looks like my garage..........looks like you have a good start now.

4" bracket lifts are usually not up to the wheeling that your leaf rear will be. Why go through all the trouble to swap rear springs and not SAS the front? Bottom line there are much better ways to lift the front then a bracket lift and much better ways to lift the rear then a leaf swap. but hey, whatever floats your boat.

The reason is it's cheap - so far $60.00... That's not to say a SAS isn't in the future. If it is then the rear is already done.... If not, then for the type of wheeling I do now, 4" lift will done... I would love a SAS, but right now it's not in the plans ($ wise) - but I will keep a lookout for the parts to do it, I'd be stupid not to... And if and when the time comes - again the rear will already be done..... Thanks for the input....
