4.875 gears in a V6 Auto?

Is 4.875 gears normal is a 94 V6 auto 4x4? In the door jam sticker it say 275 tires but the spare tire is the 31 setup (lowering tool goes in at a angel)

Yes, you have a factory 31"/4.88 truck. Mine has the 225 sticker also. If its a 94 you can check the axle code, there is a chart somewhere here or on the pirate FAQ.

Let me be more clear:

The rear thirdmember has an offset pinion. Nobody makes replacement gears for these thirds. To regear, you have to get a non-4.88 thirdmember.

If you go this route and want to do a locker, the prices for complete thirds from TrailGear and Randy's R&P are quite competitive to buying the parts and having the gears setup by a pro.

I'm curious...did you read the webpage link provided? Do you know what the carrier/thirdmember is? It would help to know so you understand what everyone is trying to tell you.

This is only a problem with the auto, though. 5spd's have no "hog" problem running 33's with 4.88's. Just so the picture is clear...hehe.

The third's with 4.88's you COULD trade for third members with 5.29's. Or, sell them and buy what ever you need....or buy then sell....whichever. There's options. It seems someone is always looking for 4.88's.
