3vze weird running issue!

My 3.0 has a problem where it will cold start fine - drives perfect until it warms up. If I drive it for say, 15 minutes on a hot day, and park it while playing basketball with a few buddies of mine for a while - I will get in to leave, and it won't start. I can then proceed to open the hood, and spray starter fluid into the intake hole where the breather for the valve cover goes into the air intake.

EFI relay tests fine

I just did the following:

Full front end (timing, water pump, all those goodies)
Top end including injectors, gaskets, etc...
New fuel lines/fuel pump/fuel filter

125 psi on 2 cylinders, 155 on other 4. Runs like a champ after this rebuild

Truck sat 7 years not running...i brought it back from the dead. Ran on 3 plugged injectors for months before i found them :\

Firstly have you tried to just hold down the accelerator a little while starting it? Just because I think that starter fluid could possibly get into your TPS and ruin it. You can check your VAFM, fuel pressure VSV, and ECT sensor since those directly influence fuel delivery.

Other than that it IS kinda weird. My first thought was fuel pump, fuel filter, injector and so forth but apparently you already got those all fixed. It never hurts to check those though.

Is the fuel pressure-up still connected? http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...ne/99fuelp.pdf That's exactly the situation it is for.

I've heard of this before... some people report issues starting. Most of the time when it's not the obvious spark issue, the issue is with the VAFM. Check it with a multimeter per the FSM. If it doesn't check out (specifically the THA circuit which monitors temperature) then replace. Don't replace it needlessly though, if it's not bad it won't fix the issue, or at least not for long.

Could also be your ECT sensor going bad. They only cost about $17 and about 10 min to replace so that might do the trick (definitely can't hurt anything!). Once again, you can check with a multimeter.

Double check your fuel pressure and pump are working correctly as well. If you smell any fuel when it sits then there's a leak, causing the fuel lines to lose enough pressure to keep it from starting.
