3vze timing belt/water pump kit - Auto vs Manual

Hi,

I am getting ready to replace the water pump and timing belt on my 1995 pickup (2wd, 5spd). I am looking at the kits on Rock Auto and I see that they have kits for auto trans and for manual trans. What is the difference? Seems like the timing belt and water pump would be the same regardless of transmission.

For the kit, you have to know whether you want the spring-type or hydraulic tensioner (by 1995, I'm pretty sure they were all hydraulic), and you have to know whether you want the bypass tube on the water pump. My '94 auto does NOT have the bypass tube. I don't know which have it or not, or if it has to do with auto v. manual, but I think that's what they're referring.

"Bypass" tube has to do with whether or not the engine is equipped with oil cooler, or not.

Engines with oil cooler require the tube on the water pump, others do not.

I don't know of any timing kit differences that are necessary to accommodate manual/ auto tranny differences.

Thanks for the quick replies. I am fairly certain I have a hydraulic tensioner and my truck does not have an oil cooler. So it sounds like there is no difference between the auto and manual transmission versions? There is about $100 price difference between the kits (different brands), so if I can go with the auto trans version it will save me some $$.
