3VZE Swap

I Have a quick question. Does the 3vze fits bolt-ons in a 4 cylinder 4 runner 1991 4x4?

nope the bell on the tranny is way different and the wrong depth. youll need a v6 drivetrain or a turbo tranny with a v6 bell on it

if youre gonna swap a motor may i ask why you want the 3.0? if it was me i would keep the 22r but if youre going through the trouble of a swap there a soooo many better choices. just my 2 cents

try searching. theyre gutless, horrible gas mileage, prone to headgasket failure. get a 3.4L v6 from, i believe, 95 and newer toyotas. sooooo much better of an engine! again, use search!

i dont think there is anything wrong with having the motor in a vehicle, it is a toyota motor and is reliable just not as reliable as others. but if you are going through all the trouble to swap a motor into your 4runner the work and cost of swapping a 3.0 just is nowhere close to being worth it. a 3.4 is much more rewarding and there are plenty of threads and writeups on this website about it

You're still not answering his question:

No, the 3.0 will not bolt up to the motor mounts. They are at different locations between the two engines.

And yes, why swap to the 3vze? You have a not very common 2nd gen 4runner (4cyl). Why do you want to swap it in the first place? 22re died? Not enough power? What?

Instead of thinking of swapping the motor, why not find out what the cause is?

Is the CEL on? Have you checked the codes?
How many miles are on it?
Do you know if the cat. converter has ever been replaced?
Do a tune-up recently? (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition time, etc.)
Has any major work been done recently before you started to lose power?
Are you losing any fluids? Coolant or oil.
Is there any erratic idle or noticeable miss in the engine?
ETC.?!

3VZ doesn't have that much more power. Cost to power gain ratio makes it not worth the swap, or the headache. This topic and why this is a bad idea has been covered hundreds of times before.

And no, you cannot simply bolt it in. The motor mounts are in different locations on the frame for 4Cyl and V6 applications.
