I know a shop right up the street from me in Mulino, OR(Clackamas Co.) that will sell you a rebuilt 3VZE for $1895 with a 75,000 mile warranty. That may be with a core exchange of yours, not sure. They only do 22RE or 3VZE as far as Toyota rebuilds.

Grumpy's Performance Center
2716 S. Hwy 213
Office:503-829-6158
Shop:503-829-6038
Or nationwide 1-800-823-6038

If you change your mind...can't afford the 3.4.

Honestly, the guy's a dick. His son, who does all the work while his dad sit's on his fat ass, is an excellent mechanic/machinist. My brother used to work for him, and my sister's boyfriend is his nephew so that's how I know.

Not everybody has had a bad experience with them. I had him resurface my heads, other than that I haven't dealt with them.

Why do you need to remove the x over pipe to remove the engine?

I only do that when I'm removing the heads, and I leave the thing bolted together!
Forget all that man. Too many bolts in too tight of an area. Take of the 14mm nuts that connect the crossover pipe to the exhaust and that little shoe horn looking bracket. When you pull the heads off, you pull both of them off at the same time with the crossover pipe still attached to them. It's much easier to deal with the exhaust manifold nuts and studs when they're on a work bench.

And to get to those top 2 bolts on the bell housing, I just use a real long tranny extension, a 17mm swivel socket, and an impact gun. It doesn't take long at all to pull it out.
