3VZE crapped out...

I was heading down I-95 to work this afternoon with the AC off and noticed the truck was a bit more sluggish. Flipped the AC off, cranked the tunes, and put the windows down.

Get off the highway and the CEL comes on. I let off the gas, and since I was within 2 miles of work, I figured I could get it there... right? Nope. CEL flickered, motor stalled right at a traffic light, but the oil pressure and temp gauges were kosher. Not spiking or anything. Turned her over and she sputtered badly once I got her into gear (auto trans), and got her to the shoulder, where she stalled again.

AAA towed her to a shop, but not before I could pull the skid plate off and inspect. I noticed some oil up in the front of the oil pan... dipstick check reveals LOW. VERY LOW. My thought is it blew a seal somewhere since the oil level was fine last week when I checked it. I had planned on Seafoaming the crank case and changing the oil Sunday... but not so much now...

Any thoughts? I'm hoping its something simple (read: cheap!) since I don't have the cash to dump a new motor into her. If I do, though, I'm likely to get one from either Jasper or Orient, unless someone suggests otherwise.

As long as your oil was still registering on the dipstick, I wouldn't worry about the internals to much.

My guess is one of the more vital sensors crapped on ya. TPS, AFM. Or possible *gasp* The ECU took a ÅÅÅÅ on ya.

That's definately something to check. If one of those hoses came loose or cracked, it would run rough and stall.

Thanks, Rabbit...

Anyway, I'm picking the Porkchop up tomorrow. Aside from the oil level being a bit low, there is apparently nothing wrong with the damned thing. The shop ran the codes and got nothing, checked the fuel filter and pump,
and a few other things that could have caused a stall. Picking her up tomorrow morning, and the best part- since they didn't find anything wrong, I don't owe them anything! (I'll be getting the shop a case of beer for that. Now if I need anything done, i know where to go!!)

Weird, eh?

I don't understand, I thought when the CEL came on, it stayed on until you reset the computer.

Thats the case with my current CEL light... It stays on no matter what until I reset the ECU.
