My first thought was a heat shield... so much for that.

What about any brackets along the run of the pipes? The O2 sensor shield maybe?

I watched the guy at the exhaust shop bang on the catalytic converter, muffler, & pipes with a gloved fist while the engine was running to diagnose a rattle I had in my old Ford Ranger. When he hit the catalytic converter, it clearly came from that. Give that a try, perhaps while a friend revs it up some (don't forget the work gloves).

When in doubt, remove a piece or two. If I remember your pics, your cat just bolts on. Eliminate that and see if you still have a rattle.

Good luck.

the cat is removed, i have a straight pipe. and I tried that. it rattles up near the front of the truck... near the Y pipe and Cross over. I found a loose bolt nar the head, so im assuming that its a leak on the headers... guess we'll find out.

Wow, that exhaust is worth more than your engine.

ok, someone got the answer me this. since both runners are gonna run down each side of the engine. can you take a picture of where the starter is and if it is still possible to remove the starter with aftermarket headers

I can tell you without a picture.

It is possible to remove and install starters still. it doesn't block it, its just a few inches closer to it than the stock manifold. you can easily enough just pull it out and change it.
