3vze cat question?

pretty sure my cat is clogged so im thinking about hallowing it out. does anyone know if 3vze computer will be affect do to the lack of back pressure?

I've been running mine ½ hollowed-out for years, with no muffler either. Runs great. Pretty loud. But I like that.

The ECU doesn't care how much backpressure there is. Or how much horsepower/torque the engine makes as a result of it. Trust me. I'm sure you could put headers and straight pipe(s) and it wouldn't be more than the stock ECU could adjust for.

There are actually 190 HP 3VZ-Es being built/sold that use the stock ECU, and run perfect with it. But that's probably pushing it pretty close to what the stock injectors can handle. What you'd need then would be larger injectors, in theory. Not a piggy back, or stand alone, ECU necessarily. IIRC, someone once said they should be good to ~195-200 HP with the stock ECU.
