3VZE bad luck
My second 3VZE just developed a terrible knock. It was a new reman. installed 4 years ago, (3 year guarantee expired). The truck is a 1991, 200K miles, body good but frame very rusty (very). I am not a very big fan of these motors, but I love the truck and really need a 4x4 around here. Wondering if I should just look for a used motor/parts truck and make one good truck. Anyone have any ideas?

PS I took good care of this engine and put less than 15K miles on it, now it's junk.

quit running them out of oil?
the bottom of a 3vze is as about as stout as they get... i cant belive you killed a second one.
and talk to the reman... 15K should still be within the millage limit on the warnetee.

More details: The knock is coming from the bottom end, very heavy and loud. Not the clutch, it's a 5-spd, works fine. The truck is a 1991 4x4 standard cab. The reman engine is from ATK. 3year/unlimited miles warranty. A year after professional install, it started ticking (lifters) not bad but annoying for a new motor. It also developed a minor oil leak. I can't recommend ATK engines. In four years of driving (on, not offroad) I only put 15K miles on it and changed the oil/filter every 3K miles. My first (original motor) blew the head gasket and I was ignorant of the factory recall. I wasn't the original owner so I never received notification by mail and I hadn't yet joined the Yota list. When I called the local Toyota dealer 4 years ago for an estimate on replacing the head gasket, they never told me about the recall. Thanks a lot. The truck has been great but the motor has been a pain in my ass....
