35's no lift on a 3rd gen pickup??

Long story short. I inherited a 90 pickup in great shape. Since then my 85 4runner has hit the back burner. Question? has anyone fitted 35's on a 3rd gen pickup with little to no suspension crank? i plan on keeping this truck in stock form (for the most part). my 30's i have on it now are VERY bald!! The meats sittin under the 4runner are still fresh!! Help!!

You'll need to lift babe... I'm running stock 31s and that's as big as you can go stock. (maybe 32s but they are rare) 33 and up you need a lift.

lol...sure you can! it might take some wheel spacers, a sawzall, and a BFH but you can make anything fit if you're determined.

since you have both the truck and the 35s on hand, why not put them on and see where you're rubbing? that will give you the best answer.

Hey there.

35s with no lift is completely possible.

Im not rubbing in any of the pics above, they tuck nicely into the fenders. I cut about 3 inches off of the fenders. Removed all inner liners and pounded back the firewall with a hammer. What you should do is put the 35s on, and see where they rub. Rims will less backspacing are going to be your friend here. Mine barley stick out. However, they do rub on the power steering pump, and on the idler arm, but only on full lock. Nice low COG. Weld the rear and wheel the piss out of it. I haven't broken a CV yet, but its probably not a bad idea to carry a spare. I still have stock gears, so no crawling, but still plenty of power in low to clean the tires out. Also, my t-bars are still at stock height to get some flex out of it.

I have 3rd gen I run 35s with a 3in body lift. They still were going to rub so Inner fender had to be cut and banged out.. Now they dont rub at all and you cant tell any fender of any sort was cut unless you look inside the fender..

I think the biggest problem you are going to have is with wheel backspacing. I run 33-12.50s that rubbed on some front stuff, can't remember exactly what, with stock wheels but stopped with new wheels. I had about two inches of lift both before and after the new wheels too...

Ok guys and gal, I've been running 35's on stock back spacing (4.5) I think with 1.5 wheel spacers and still rub on my ARB and against the pinch weld.

I've lightly trimmed the pinch weld and some of the fender, but the tire still hits and gives the tires some major rash at stuff. I'm considering sizing down because of all of this because the end result is not as fun wheeling adventures.

Anyone have some alternate suggestions for me? Thanks.

3rd gen 4Runner is a whole different animal, much less clearance for larger tires than the pre-Taco's. Here's how much you would have to cut/tub to fit 35's:

I just put my 33's from my 95 Runner on my 92 pickup. They do alright just rub on the front fenders a wee bit (2wd fenders on a 4wd truck) I'm going to modify the bottoms of the fenders where they rub. 35's will be tight.

But what the hey, try it out and see who they work!!! What will you lose 45 minutes of swapping rims???
