hey guys new here does anyone know if you could put 35x10.5s on a 4inch ifs lift i would think it would be ok since you would be lifting it 4 inches and then putting 4 inch bigger tires on it. Thanks in advance

 

Generally you may need a small body lift on top of the 4" lift or some fender trimming. All depends on the wheels (width and backspacing) and brand of tires (width and height can vary between mfgs.). Some of the 4" lift kits require use of 3.5" or so backspacing up front to clear the suspension components. That pushes the tires out wider and more chance of rubbing:

when my 4runner was running a procomp4inch lift i was running 35x14.50 boggers with no problems

 

Im fitting 35x12.50's on 10 wide rims no body lift lift, just a 4 inch ifs lift. Rubs when flexed but thats it, I mostly whell in the snow so Its really not a factor.

Im running BFG m/t 35's with a 4in lift, with no problems. When flexed there is a lil rubbing but no biggie

 

I run 35x12.5's on 8" rims and 3.75 backspacing with a PRO COMP STAGE II 4" lift and the only thing I have needed to do is trim the pinch welds to stop the full lock rubbing. I will be putting 1.5" ball joint spacers on for the extra clearance to help the rubbing when stuffed.

 

Well since you can fit 33s stock I would assume you can run 35s no prob.

 

I am running 35 X 12.5's with just a 4 inch lift on mine. I have never ever had any rubbing or anything.Should be ok

also i know its recommended to re gear when you go 35s but how would the runner do if i didnt re gear right away? its a 5 speed 3.0

 

With out re-gearing your truck will be very sluggish. Since you are going to 35's you probably aren't too concerned with mileage, but be prepared to take a hit... 5.29's are pretty much the standard for 35's. I think it might be TC or one of the other Guru's might even recommend 5.71's.

 

i run 35's but im running 9" of lift cause im SAS more importantly i have 4.88's and it brought the truck back to stock as far as torque, speed, accel. and im very pleased on the trail as well!

I run BFG KO'S but thinking about going to BFG KM's I like the look of the more aggresive tire and they wear and last just as well as the KO'S from what I am told. I also run 5.29's not sure about the 4.88's but the stock 4.10's will kill anything that resimbles power, mpg, or torgue.

 

You could fit 35's with 3" bl. I did some trimming tho. Yeah stock gears kills pretty much everything. It was great with the 30's. but not with the 35's I am waiting for my next paycheque then will get 5.29!

 

how often do you guys w/ ifs on 35's go through cv's and other parts? wheeling is a requirement for this questions. no mall crawlers lol.

 

Let's see, this is simple

Regarding Gen II 4Runners (not sure about pick'em'ups ).

They came stock with 31's (some of them).
We're looking at only 2" in difference then.
So, a simple 2" bl will work (disregarding any problems with wheel opening diameter, just talking height here) just fine with the same amount of flex as the vehicle had before.


Now, remember, this does NOT address problems with steering component strength (lack of), braking capacity (lack of), and gearing.

So far I have not gone through any but my axle angles are almostflat.
If you look close you can see the angle or lack of I have in mine. Sorry the pics a bit blurry but you can get an idea of how flat they are.

 

Problem is tires get bigger all around. The wheel well arches, especially up front, are tight, tires want to rub there. And taller tires are also typically wider and even mounted on wider than stock wheels. A wider tire on a wider wheel swings a wider arc when you turn the front wheels side-side and that wider arc is more likely to make contact with the wheel well, especially at the rear of the front one.
