I'm down in the Carribean using a friends 93 Toyota pickup (built 9/92) and it was driving like ˟˟˟˟: Missing, hesitating, bucking, check engine light coming on and off. I decided by the way it drove that it was the TPS - most of it seemed to involve changes in throttle position - so I threw a TPS at it and BAM! All better!

So then I decided to clear out the codes and for kicks I read them before clearing them out.

This is an OBD 1 truck but both codes were three digits:

415 and
452

From what I could find with the very slow Internet here the codes for this truck are two digit.

Can anyone clarify this for me?

 

So my friends truck is pinging when it warms up, especially bad just off idle, and it only occurs at part throttle - if you floor it it doesn't ping.

He has changed the fuel filter to no avail. All the basics are good, timing, plugs, no CEL codes, etc. The truck runs perfectly when cold.
