3.0 Cat Removal

Temporarily I am removing the cat. I'm planning on getting a flowmaster. BUT I'm tired if the damn leak so I was trying to take it off today. At first I was just going to get a weld on, but I got the rear bolts removed, so I decided against it. Currently it's load as hell, but the fornt ones jus wont come off.

Is it worth it to try and get them off? Or should I just saw it off? Like I said I got the rear two off (13 mm oddly, 12 in the front).

Oh and for those of you wondering how it sounds, it sounds like those Chevy's and Ford's you hear all the time deep and loud.

just make sure you dont make it sound ricey... i got 2.5'' pipe for a nice deep rumble... i reccommend the flowmaster 40 with or without the cat... many people bash the flowmaster... but it sounds great to me... i can try to post an audio clip if you want... the 3vze is an awesome sounding engine.

Lots of responses already.lol.

The whole reason I did this is because I uncaringly took a sawsall to the front flange which created a really annoying leak. Depending on how much I get for the cat, I'll be doing some new pipes. Will def at least get a straight pip with flanges so its not overly annoying, IF I don't get a custom exhaust soon.

Took me 2 hours, and lots of fire, but it was worth it!!
Elton, see below.
JCM4x89pu, I would greatly appreciate a sound clip. lol.

Cat is off and in one piece. Flanges are intact too. lol.

Heres some pics.

As it stands now. Notice the electrical wiring. lol.

Elton, My front flange bolts were welded too. Those little pentagonal things were welded on. Just take a blow torch for a long time and heat it till its glowing hot. Then take some vice grips and shake it around. The rears were simple, except the one I so lovingly tore off.

I brute. I strong. I rip bolts.

The old cat. Gonna call some pawn shops and scrap metal places to see how much they will take for it. (Hopefully alot!)

These were the welded on ones. If you couldn't already tell, there was no way and socket could get a good grip on it.

And two videos. First one is just the cat, second one is the cat removed (just a teaser.)

Tomorrow after work I'll post a vid of it outside.

I think I'm going to call this guy once my new cat comes in. There are not buyers around here - this guy will let you ship them to him and he'll mail you back a check.

http://www.adccatalytic.com/

I emailed him - he looks legit but I won't know for sure until do mail it off.

I really don't know. They speak of pictures on their site but I have yet to see any. I emailed - they said take a picture and we can tell you. I just have not snapped one off yet. Send em' the picture you posted with how long it is and see what they say...
