you have 3 practical options

1. drive it stock
2. find 2+ "parts trucks" and put them together
3. buy something else already "built"

Enjoy your extremely high interest rate.
If you pay the minimum payment it'll be a heck of alot longer than 6 years..

Don't get a loan man.. Just buy the truck and build it as you can afford it.

I bought my truck outright when I was 19, and in the 3 years I've owned it I've only just been able to afford 33s and a free flowing muffler lol.

*sigh* guess I better go do what NORMAL people do and save up. wouldnt be THAT hard, I live in a winterized 30ft 5th wheel in an RV park right now. The trailer, a 94' V10 Dodge that came with it, and my yota, count for a lot of collateral for a loan though. All of that was paid by cash savings from 2 years of working at a mill, but I had to move away for university and now I'm only working at a grocery store. But what I think I'll do is just buy the LT from savings that I have and SOA the rear for now, that seems the best compromise. OR, buy some Swampers for the dodge and wheel it as is, but that thing is junk and i dont want to waste money on it. but thats off topic for this forum.
BTW, I might enter into a couple 1450 class races with this truck, just for fun. (if I ever feel like risking totalling the truck) so the LT is pretty essential lol

Wait, if I run in 1450 class I cant have a turbo. but cause I'll be running propane the turbo setup would be extremely easy to remove. unless propane isnt allowed either...

i'm 18 too, i have a 92 toyota p/u 2wd. i considered taking out a loan to build it, talked to the bank, and the next decade or so would be hell for me financially, don't take out the loan, with your money build it up, thats what i'm doing. I am finally getting it lifted, getting the 3.5" fabtech lift.
good luck with your truck!!!
post up pics of the process!

truck purchase

Whatever you decide to do, don't take out a loan. Like most others have said in here, this is a bad idea. You will pay so much more in the long run - as you will be paying off interest primarily, not principal.

No level of debt is ever a good thing - except school debt - tuition etc. Work for it over time and you will appreciate it more. Tons of guys on here have built some amazing trucks with very little money, just lots of time spent.

Good luck with the build!

technically speaking a vehicle is the worst investment you can make if you need to take a loan out, it sucks but its true. most of the time you will never get all the money you put into it. dont take a loan out. just build it as you do and it will mean more working for stuff.

I agree, no loan. Take that money and put it into your college education and then when you get out and get a big dollar job, than buy toys. We all want our trucks built right now but everyone has priorities. Who knows if 6 years down the road you will still have the truck or even want this same thing, tastes change in time.

Love the ideas here. But I think you have to make a choice on if its going to be a mall crawler or a desert runner. Personally I vote for the prerunner idea and for that you need a long travel kit and some deavers in the back. I know this is old but I wanted to leave my $.02

By now he might actually have paid it off. I wonder if he's still in love with the truck 7 years later. Welcome to YotaTech.
