So i just picked up a 87 Turbo pickup for $2000, and i found a nice bit of oil in the intake track right before the TB. now im wondering if i should just rebuild the CT20 thats it in, or maybe go for something bigger.

My biggest problem is money, im attending school full time at Universal Technical Institute. I could take the turbo to class with me and give it to the bolt-on performance class to rebuild after buying the kit, but i have heard that the CT26 is a good upgrade but is it a direct bolt on or will i have to do some modification ?

Make sure that the oil isn't coming from the PCV system first.

 

well, it seems like an aweful lot of oil to be coming from the PCV system, but i'll give that a check.

will the CT26 bolt up to our stock manifold ? i found a guy that has one for sale off an 88 supra for a good price

I posted in the above link. Get the ct 26 just in case. The ct 20's always crack at the exhaust side housing where the wastegate flap is... where did u pick up the truck at? I saw one on craigslist around here for around that price too. Kind of a rare and hard to find being that I have only owned 2 and saw 4 in person my entire life so far.

i actually traded the truck for a 2000 chevy cavalier that i paid 1500 for. my buddys dad had the truck and wanted to get rid of it

 

So new question. I picked up a CT26 for 50 bucks from a guy I go to school with, haven't put it on yet but I noticed that the truck start breaking up at about 4000 rpm and I'm not sure if the turbo is just losing pressure. I've also noticed that the elbow into the throttle body is cracked due to the excessive amount of oil comin from the turbo the plugs are new but the wires aren't. Fuel filter seems newer. Just wondering if there were any common problems

a ct26 from a supra will not directly bolt on to a 22ret. if you do want to make the ct26 work, you have to consider the fact that the ct26 is a slightly bigger turbo which your stock fuel system and ecu probably can't keep up with. you will need bigger injectors and some sort of a fuel controller

 

I disagree. Being a MAF based motor, the electronics can compensate for even a moderate increase in airflow, and still maintain safe A/F ratios. Proof by many people running CT26 turbos on stock electronics on the turbo truck forums.

The CT26 is not bolt-on, but it's close. You need to ream the holes in a little bit on the turbo to make it fit. The oil feed/drain line needs to be modified, using the feed portion, and flange from the CT26, and the drain portion from the CT20, welded together (or even just mated together with a piece of hose and some clamps. You will need to weld up a custom downpipe, I recommend getting flanges from bicperformance.com. The Supra DP is upside-down from what you need, and the CT20 DP isn't even close. I think the low-pressure intake pipe can be made to fit, but you'll need to get a coupler for the compressor outlet, and hack off the bolt-on flange off the stock pipe. I would recommend installing an intercooler while you have it apart though.

 

i know from a mk3 supra (7mgte w/ CT26) standpoint that increasing the airflow moderately with its Karmmen type MAF will be enough to 'out-do' the stock ecu. i believe you when you say the 22RET's can handle it b/c im not an expert on it but the OP needs to at least buy a wideband to watch the A/R's just in case
