Bad ground wire connection or bad connection to the battery.

Broken or corroded terminals and/or broken/corroded connections to the starter, alternator, or engine. Possible bad/corroded connnection between the engine and the chassis/body. Make sure the grounds are ALL in good shape and clean.

Hope that helps a little. Check for blown fuses/fusible link also.

Glad it got fixed I'm sure u noticed that the big wire to the starter is the hot (positive) from the battery. The small plug on the starter is controlwire from the relay. When you turn the key, a relay closes allowing voltage to be applied to that small wire. This energisezes the solenoid, pulling the little gear into position where the starter can turn the flywheel. The starter it's self runs on the power from the big wire coming from the battery. It get's it's ground from the engine, that's why the ground wire from the battery to the engine is so important.

Long-winded, sorry, but there it is
