Leaky 89 4Runner
Hello i am looking for a little help. I have an 89 Toy with 3.0 Auto.
Recently my motor has been leaking oil on the passenger side of the motor. Not just a little bit, but enough to spray up and onto the side of my rig. So i tried a few things. First washed off everything to locate the leak; also put die in the motor oil. It looked like the oil was coming from the oil pan; replaced the gasket, oil is still leaking. Then i followed the trail of oil to the valve cover fixed that gasket and it is still leaking.
I AM STUMPED!!! ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS WHERE ELSE THE OIL WOULD BE COMING FROM WOULD BE GREAT!!!
p.s. the oil only leaks when the car is under load and the fan blows the oil everywhere mainly on the passenger side.

MIGHT be the front oil seal. They leak after various intervals, and eventually fail. Easy to fix. You pull the belts, fan shroud, crankshaft pully, and oil pump. It's in the oil pump housing. tap the old one out, tap a new one in and put it all together again. All u need are the seal and a gasket for the oil pump. Costs about $15.00-$20.00 for the two, total. takes about 2 hours to do.
Of course, it may not be that at all, but given that it tends to do it under load, when the oil pressure is higher, and that the fan is blowing it around, it may be the problem...

How does the engine run? Is it possible you've blow a head gasket? It doesn't really sound like a head gasket oil leak, but hey, you never know. You said you traced the leak to the valve cover; after you fixed that and still had oil leaking were you able to trace it to anything else?
My next attempt would be to pull the timing chain cover & look for leaks there.
