22re- wierd problem

I have a 22re in a 89 toyota 4wd. When in is cold, if i rev it up, it will idle very erratically. Also, it will have no power until about 3,000 rpm whether or not it is cold. I checked my timing, cleaned injectors and new fuel filter. Could it be a sensor or something?

Among MANY things, it may be the engine coolant temp. sensor.

I also noticed if i pull my foot off the gas a tiny bit while driving, it will act like there is no throttle applied at all, almost like it stalls. it doesn't do it all the time but it has happened quite a bit.

Have you tried pulling any codes from the computer?

The way it's acting, it sounds like a AFM (air flow meter) is bad. Try testing it out and report back.

Saying "when I rev it up, it idles erratically" doesn't mean much.
revving it up is not idling and vice-versa.

Are you saying that after starting the engine when cold it idles fine, but when after revving it up then letting off the throttle it won't idle properly... and when it's warm it won't idle properly at all?

Think you can be a little less vague?

Sorry, if i rev the motor, after i rev it, it will idle erratic. If i don't rev it when its cold, it will idle steadily. It isnt throwing any codes.

Sounds like your TPS is out of adjustment or no good based on your "Leting off the throttle" comment. This may not account to much for the idle problem though. Jumper your check connector when the engine is warm and see if the idle drops. If not you TPS is out.
