22re timing.

have been looking all over for a thread simply about timing an 85 22re. need some kind of picture of what the plug looks like that you have to jump and basically just a simple walk through of setting the timing. thanks, i know its such a broad post and asking something that should be simple, but if i dont know how to do it there isnt much i can do but ask, thats what yotatech is for anyways, right?

On the passenger side of the hood, there should be a label, it will tell you your timing. Should be 5 degress BTDC. You will need a timing light and follow the manufactures directions, One lead will go to your #1 Plug wire and one to your battery usually.

You will need to looosen the Distributor and turning is how you control where the timing mark is where it is at. When you have the light hooked up right, you can point to the crank pulley and see when it flashes.

You jump the 2 wires and start it up. Your check engine light should start flashing if you have it jumped right.

Haynes manual does a good job of explaining it. Also is a good time to do your valve adjustments and idle. This is a quick description of what is done, but with the manual it will fill in the blanks. The other setting are located on the hood also.
