Rpm signal usually shows when the truck is having trouble starting. Have you checked the wires coming from the ignitor running across the top of the motor? See if they are damaged. And do those tests i mentioned.... you can't keep guessing little things... if you don't want to go through the proper tests then you will have a crappy running truck. Theres no magic fix for these things. And what do you mean when the idle gets low... the idle on normal operating temp for a 22r is about 750-850. Is it "seeking" a diff idle alot?

Oh and believe Code 12 is:

-Ignitor
-Coil
-Distributor
-ECU

Trouble areas to look at.

Well... SHE RUNS LIKE A TOP!!!!!

While im not sure what exactly fixed it I did a few things before starting it up again and it ran beautiful.

1. Replaced wire going from coil to distributor (i tried pulling the old one off *after market* and both ends stripped out)
2. Checked connection at MAF sensor wiggled it around and made sure it was firmly in place.
3. Replaced the little plug-in thing on the coil that is held on by the mounting screw. ( idk what it is called maybe someone could chime in on it)

Now performs awesome, and really moves the 36's I got on there!

Thanks alot everyone for your input!! It really helped!!

Could have very well been a pin hole in that coil wire. Code 12 was leaning you in the right place then Good deal though.

I also checked for stored codes again and got a code #12

RPM SIGNAL-NO SIGNAL TO ECU FROM DISTRIBUTOR ("Ne" OR "G") AFTER ENGINE HAS BEEN CRANKED
--DISTRIBUTOR/CIRCUIT

--STARTERSIGNAL CIRCUIT

--IGNITER/IGNITER CIRCUIT

--ECU

Do you think this could be a bad ECU?

STOP!!!!!!

How many things have you skipped past? This is why mechanics get paid what they get paid. (Usually not enough)

Did you ever finish testing the TPS and MAF?!!!

Have you even bothered to look at the spark plugs yet?!!!

If you don't carry out each test to completion, you will never fix your truck! Diagnosing is a process of elimination. Go back and read this thread, and do what has been recommended. Figure out the ohm-meter, read the FSM, and put it on the TPS and MAF!

did anything ever come out of this because i have the same problem...i was going to pick up an msd coil for a bit more spark and maybe some more pep. dont kno if you ever ran into this but when it rains hard my 22re starts stumbling then if left to idle it dies like water is getting in my d cap. today i rtv'd the cap to see how that does.
