22re questions
hi everyone...
couple questions.
1st.
i have an oil leak that varys in size, sometimes dont see any sometimes the spot is 3 inches across. it changes.
its pretty much directly under the engine. any ideas where that could be leaking from?
truck has the 22re and 102,000 miles. 4x4 1995 truck.
when i check the oil,it never seems to be low on the dipstick?
2nd.
right as winter was starting last year i noticed my heat was blowing cold, then hot, then cold agian......from help on the board here i found out it was low coolant,it took almost a gallon to fill it to the top.
no problems after that....
fast forward to the biggening of this winter.....lost alittle heat...so right away i checked the coolant, almost 1/2 gallon low to fill to the top.
does it have to do with winter some how???
how would i lose almost 1/2 gallon of coolant in 1 year?
never leaked any coolant ever?
dont say head gasket cuz its not.
3rd.
my antenna is leaning over, towards the windshield,at about the same angle as the windshield rake....i looked up under the wheel well and it seems like it was out of its holder so i tried to put it back in and it came out...is it broke? or just not in enough?
thanks to anyone who can help...bonus points if you know all 3 ...thanks guys.

When we were trying to diagnose my oil leak we replaced the front seal. That didn't work - but while we were in the middle of doing my rear seal I noticed that all of my oil pan bolts were finger loose. I tightened those right up and haven't had a problem since.

With the antenna... mine bends back at a pretty good lean. It comes from highway speeds and wind resistance (at least that's the way mine works).
As far as the leaking coolant, it could be a bad seal somewhere in one of the hoses or seaping from the heater core. If you lost a 1/2 gallon since last year that adds up to about a tablespoon a day. Which could easily go undetected. Check all your hoses for white/green/yellow crusty stuff coming out at any of the connections. That would be dried up coolant. If it's your heater core, you'll want to check for a damp floor carpet on the passenger side of the truck.
Hope this gives you some things to check ;-)

Sorry, didn't complete my thought...
The reason that mine worked their way out is because the last time someone did work that required removal of the oil pan they replaced the gasket with a cork gasket (doesn't stick as well).
If it is in fact that oil pan bolts you'll want to tighten them only to about 15 lbs.

Mine were also quite loose. I tightened them up today. Hopefully that will stop or reduce the slow leaks I've been getting with the 87 runner.

Hows your power steering fluid as well as all your other fluids?
Might even check your front differential.
Just taking shots in the dark.

i know its oil because i stick my finger in it and can tell,it must be just a small enough leak to not register much on the dip stick.
i will check for crust.
also, the light behind my heat and defrost sliders is out,is that an easy bulb to get to?
and my cel is on and i checked the code, its a 71...egr....do you guys have an idea about that? i herd it could be a few things tripping the 71 code.
thanks guys.

Pretty easy, use something like a thin flat-bladed screwdriver to one of the small sides and you can take off the front (very easy) and you'll see the bulb with a sort of rubber sleeve, some people call them bulb condoms. You can buy one of those bulbs from your local auto supply shop.
EDIT:
sorry, don't forget to pull off the slider knobs.
