22re pcv grommit

just about finished up rebuilding my 1994 22re, and about to carry it out of the basement tomorrow. Seeing I got the grommet for the pcv in the gasket set, I thought it'd be a good idea to change it too. Pretty cracked and hard. After a few minutes of twisting, prying, I got it out. The bottom half dropped down, but was easy to snag and retrieve. (just like numerous threads said it would)
But, the new grommet is too loose, even with the valve in place. The bottom 'tang' doesn't index and grab. In fact, the tang is actually smaller than the hole diameter. It just pushes on and off... easily. It looks identical to the original one, except for the outside diameter, and possibly the length. It 'fits' the top ring on the cover fine... It's hard to compare it to the crumbled one! Weird. mis packaged? <shrug>
So, off to find another one.. Dorman #42057 should be the correct one, and easy to find.

Red face

The only ones that worked for me I got from my dealer.

It seems the quality control on the China made ones is lacking or the packing of the right part in right package is really hit and miss

I got the gaskets, rings, bearings from enginetech. The gasket material said "made in USA".. rings and bearings said 'Japan'. I did get a Fel-Pro HG separately. The last Fel-pro lasted over 5 yrs with no issues (using new bolts) so I went that route again.
I jammed the Valve down into the rubber so the biggest part of the valve was inside, and seemed to make it 'grab'. I don't like the looks of that! Not much of the nipple sticks up to attach the hose to. Off to a dealer for me!!

Driving to the dealer didn't pan out, so I took a chance on the Dorman. Got it Friday, and it fit perfectly. Onward with the install!!

I also got a Dorman one from CarQuest store. It fit perfectly. Sorry I don't have the P/N for you. it was just a single one in a card.

All the ones I get that are not OEM even though they fit seem to dry and crack after a couple months.
