i'm jumping on the "check the injectors/fuel system" bandwagon

not to be a wiseass here, but that's not entirely correct. running a true stoichiometric ratio is hotter than what most engines are designed to run at. starvation could definitely cause overheating like that. a slightly rich mixture actually helps to keep combustion temperatures down

But yes, if you run lean, you can over heat. But at a idle they shouldn't be glowing red. Even if you just came off a hard WOT run, they head pipe should cool down from glowing red fairly quickly. I have never seen a single or a pair of cylinders on a 4 banger run lean enough at idle to glow a head pipe at idle and still run at a idle.

well guys i figured out the problem with my truck, come to find out i got a couple of burnt valves and the compression is really low in cylinders number 3 and 4. so i cant make up my mind on what to do, either take the head back off and put new valves in it or go ahead and rebuild the motor since im all ready half way there.

Is there someone who could possibly help me with my 22re shake? I resealed my motor. And threw a new head head gasket in. When everything was put back together it wouldn't start. You could hear it want to start but couldn't. So i pulled my distributor and turned it 180 degrees it turned over and started. Well it runs very very rough. I put a timeing light on number one plug and shined the light i couldn't see it. So i poped my head underneath the truck and the light was showing on the bottom. Any suggestions?
