22RE missing

okay, timing is dead nuts on this thing, it idles great.

when i first start the truck up, it runs and drives like a top. it gets warm and then starts running like crap, if i give it any more than like 1/8th of a pedal of gas it wants to stall out. and just plain old runs like crap.

can you guys help me out here?

Mine sorta does the same thing.. As long as i drive real easy it will never miss a lick but if i try to run in a hurry at about half throttle it just smothers, I can let up off the gas and it will smooth out..When the motor is cold she will run like a bat of hell... I'm learning to just pet it and live with it.. Ive done all i know to do......

Coolant temperature sensor...possibly.

I suppose no CEL codes? And have you all look at the troubleshooting guide in the FSM?

Ive done a lot or searching, reading, going outside and trying stuff this afternoon.. I traced it down to the TPS is my problem. After test driving with it unplugged it runs GREAT.. More power, fast acceleration .. I love it.. NOW, What is the down side of just leaving it unplugged?? Why should i buy another if runs great without it? I have slightly higher idle but not enough to worry about..

even with a new topend, and ignition components i still get a little "miss" sound out of mine at idle. think my problem could be related?

unplugging it will give you worse gas mileage/power, but if it was badly adjusted in the first place it could minimize the symptoms. do a search for tps adjustment and you'll find info on how to get it properly dialed in at which point you need to recheck the timing, and it should be running much better.
