22re Issues

So yesterday I drove around all day no problems. Even transport a motorcycle for a buddy across town stuck in traffic 75% of the way stop and go 15mph. Anyways I run a few more errands. Go home and take a mid day nap. Then head over to a friends for a BBQ. Still no issues but the moment I head home I have some issues.

I start her up and begin to head home and noticed its very sluggish and almost wants to die. Dash lights even dim alittle. The truck just sounds like its running on a few cylinders and is viberating the truck alittle more than usual too. I limp the truck home and onthe highway getting up to speed was very slow and getting up to 60 was a chore. Going up hill is even worst. It slows down quite a bite. above 60 I nocticed it was as bad but no where near where it was prior.

So this morning I go through everything and make sure nothing is loose or got disconnected. I even change the plugs. It runs alittle smoother but under load it does the same thing its not as responsive as before. Checked all the fuses none are blown.

Could it be bad gas?
Something with the FI?
Bad injectors?
Bad coil?

What are thigns to look for if one of the things above go bad/out?

BTW this is on a 93 5spd 2wd 22re.

Any suggestions or tips would be great full

TIA

With the dim lights and sluggishness I think it may be someting with your charging system. Have your battery and alternator checked at your local auto parts store. Its usually free. I had a huge audio system in my 92 pickup with a 22re and on the long low notes I would get the same symptoms. No power and dim lights. My altenator just coulden't keep up.

Kinda what mine was doing right before the HG blew, now it does all that and clacks under load..... Time for a new HG for me!!

Were the dim lights assoiated with ultra low rpms at idle? If so I would disregard electrical ideas since the alternator probally was only putting out an amp or two

To check the cap and rotor pull them off and look at them, if the contacts are nice and shinny your good, if black, there not good.

Wires could be out too, no real way to check. I replaced my cap/rotor/wires when the HG blew, hoping that was the rought idle...nope....$50 bucks that wasn't needed, but didnt hurt.

Do a compression test.

You might want to check your timing or tps set screws. I had the bolt that holds the distributor in place fall out and I was still able to limp it to the house. Mine showed some of the same symptoms and was blowing oil from the hole, so my oil pressure was also down. Just a suggestion, good luck.

I am not either, the only evidence I have, besides only 25 and 20 psi in 3&4, is slightly cloudy coolant (if it wansnt 10 days old I wouldnt even consider it) and a really rough idle.... No smoke at all, not loosing coolant, or oil....

Yep... if nothing else checks out I would do a compression test. A HG was my last thought since none of the normal symptoms are present...

the compression test will tell you a lot.
you said the following day it seemed to run a bit better at start up, but then deteriorated. with cooling, plugged fuel filter will allow more fuel to pass initially, then plug again, hence my questions.
