22re idle set

i have a 1990 pickup that i need to set the idle on. but the service manual is a little bit vague on what needs to be done. is there a specific target temp that is trying to be achieved?

in terms of temps, are you trying to set a cold idle? what is the current idle rpm?

"2,500 rpm for 2 minutes" sounds like it's intended to be an idle speed adjustment for a warm engine? i usually do that with a timing light that has tachometer capability.

From what I understand their goal is to heat soak the radiator so that way when the engine is at a high operating temperature will continue to idle normally. I'm just trying to better understand what their temperature goal is for that heat soak

it would have been nice to see a temp operating range to set the idle at... i used to work on cars in below-freezing weather, had to put cardboard in front of the radiator to get the engine hot... running an engine for 2 minutes in that weather wouldn't have been enough.
