22RE exhaust
So this is what im planning on doing
header (mine right now leaks so...)
but do i have to change my cat and muffler or will it hurt it to run it a while
what about the egr? what can i do about that?
i would like a high flow cat and aftermarket muffler just dont have the funds
but piping will be 2.25
comments welcome

I have the complete LC enginerring exhaust. Its a little loud for my taste but for most people I think they would be ok with it. To me it sounds like a ricer. My biggest issue is that once I changed the exhaust I started getting a CEL. I cant remeber the code (I think it was 71). Has something to do with EGR or EGR temp. Anyway I replaced the EGR at a cost of 159 dollars and still have the CEL. If I drive at 70 + miles and hour donw the highway it will go off sometime but it always comes back. I think the issue is that the free flowing exhaust reduces the temp in the EGR causing the CEL. I have just been ignoring it but it does get on my nerves.

no 22RE had an OBD2 system.
my .02, unless you're shooting for more power at high RPMs, stay with your factory manifold. it's set up like a tri-y header already. the only think i can think of to improve on it is have an exhaust shop extend the 2 runners on the pipe that comes off the manifold to about where the pipe straightens out, then run 2" to the muffler, then 2.25" after that.
and remember, your exhaust is only as large as the smallest part, which will be your cat. don't cheap out and reuse the factory muffler, you don't need a performance one either. just have the shop set you up with a generic 2.25" muffler.

I have installed on mine....
Doug Thorley Headers
2.5 inch pipe all the way back
Flowmaster...not to keen on it but oh well.
The sound is kinda like a ricer but I will eventually just go back to a generic muffler and that should solve it.
I love it and I feel like there was a slight performance increase. And those headers are the nicest looking part of my engine.
