22R & 22RE Question?

I have a 1986 4runner with a 22RE. Well with over 250,000 miles on her it spun #2 rod bearing yesterday . And the crank got scared up too. And here is my question. I have a friend that has a re-manufactured 22R that came out of his 1983 toy pickup that i can get for $300. Im pretty sure it'll work. And i believe the only big deal to the swap is changing two bolts on head with longer ones to bolt up my intake. Due to his is carb & mine is EFI. Ive been looking up other post on this. And im reading that my intake ports are different. Am i going to have this problem? Man i hope this isnt going to be a disapointment. This is my daily driver & i want my Yoti to run again ASAP. Just looking for someone to assure me that this is a good swap. Or is there something eles i dont know about? Thank you for your help.

'85-'95 22R/RE blocks/heads are interchangeable. Forget about the '83!

Thanks for the info. Ive called so many peaple trying to find a motor that my ear could fall off. Im about to put a 305, 700r4, & get a adaptor for my yota case and start cutting, welding & get this done. And ive also got a 1989 4.3 motor on hand too. Theres alot of info on these swaps in here.
