22 re steel guides and rock oil pump
I just installed steel timing chain guides and a new Rock oil pum in my 22re. It runs good but now has a little whine noise. Has anyone experience this with the Rock oil pump or LC steel backed timing chain guides?

Found this thread doing a search. Mine is doing the same thing after about 1000+ miles on it. No AC or power steering, it kinda worries me now though since the oil pressure when warm drops just below the first mark on the SR5 gauge. Quickly jumps back up to normal though at about 1200 rpm.

I installed this about 2,000 miles ago (most of that driving to Oregon and back a couple weeks back).
Don't notice any whines and I have AC and PS. I notice a "tick" that I've always had, which i attribute to valves or injectors (I've done several valve adjustments over the years and it never goes away so I'm leaning toward injectors).
My oil pressure on the SR5 gauge is always a HAIR under the "middle" mark on the dash, no matter what RPM I'm at.
Did you prime with petroleum jelly or something when you installed it? Change the oil soon after installing it and running for a bit?

primed it with sta-lube marine bearing grease, oil changed at 20 minutes run time, 500 miles and then again at 1000 miles. all with valvoline 10-30 except the last oil change added lucas. Maybe that's whats giving the oil pump whine? Only does it when cold though. I might give tod a call and see what he says. maybe he will replace it for me.
