1993 yota pick up WON'T START

Hello,

I'm trying to help my friend figure out where he went wrong with changing his water pump. The truck is a 93 yota v6 pickup. He changed the water pump because it was leaking very badly. The truck ran like a TOP before this whole installation occurred. so once he got the pump put in and everything all put back together he went to start it and the truck didnt even come close to firing. so we striped it all off and checked the timing. it was off but not by a whole lot. we got the timing all set. put it all together and still nothing. now i'm not a yota guy but it sounded like there was very little compression... we felt the tail pipe and there was plenty of pressure there. we checked the spark on both sides of the distributor and it was strong. we are stumped and need help. any info that may lead us in the right direction would be appreciated. thanks!

Did you check valve timing (set by the position of the timing belt) or ignition timing (set by the position of the distributor)? Or both? (you should have checked both)

Sounded like little compression? Can you imitate that sound for us? No, never mind, just do it with a compression gauge. ($21?) I assume you used a timing light to check the ignition timing; if not, don't admit it, just get one.

Fuel, air, spark. It's that simple. Trace all three.

during starter cranking, if under 800 rpm's the EFI will not send signal to the ecu. this is right out of the toyota service manual.

Which signal is that? Where is it in the FSM? http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...es/repair.html

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just trying to understand what you're referring to.

whoops one extra 0 in there, the ecu won't send signal to the efi system(fuel injectors) without a cranking speed of more than 80 RPMs, this should be located in the EFI system theory section of the manual.

Go back and check to make sure everything is plugged in, heck I would even crank it, leave the key on and check for codes.
