1993 pickup catalytic converter removed
Hello everyone,
So I have a 1993 Toyota pickup that I've been getting fixed up for a while, went to go get it e-tested and found out it has no catalytic converter in it. So the question I'm asking is what kind of messing around with it did the previous owner do to it to get it to not show a check engine light? I've ordered a cat and an o2 sensor, is there anything else I should check/ order for this thing? Thanks.

California trucks have a second O2 sensor downstream of the Catalytic Converter, to monitor the effect of the cat. IF you don't have a California truck, you probably only have the single sensor and it will not detect the missing cat. So you're probably good.
If you do have a California truck, tricking the second sensor is non-trivial; I have no idea how it could be done easily. So check first if your under-hood sticker says "The Golden State."
