When you say "better" you mean that the car accelerated without that same kind of hesitation you were describing earlier?

Without the TPS you should still get a pretty choppy engine, but it runs. If it runs differently at all, you may need to check the TPS for proper operation. The FSM (I can't link it now) and many threads on this forum have info on how to check the TPS.

Also, now you should have a code stored, so check and make sure that the ECU is reading and recording codes. (this one will be for TPS since you unplugged it)

the ecu threw a code for the missing tps but i was wrong. at first i thought the truck accelerated better and had a better throttle response, but its pretty much the same when its plugged in. i noticed that it will accelerate better when you have the gas pedal down 3 quarters of the way down. full throttle response is still horrible no matter what. the engine is also misfiring now.

Adjust your TPS and connect it up. Then, check your timing. if that doesn't work:

Double check all of your vacuum lines.

Otherwise you have a fuel delivery problem. That has been discussed before.

Okay I'll check the vacuum lines, but how exactly do you adjust the tps on these vehicles? And right now my timing is retarded. Should I set it to its factory settings first?

Look, you'r not gonna get one piece of advice that is going to fix your problem. You have to look through everything.

Check all of the electronic components as per the FSM specs.
Check and set timing to factory spec (10 deg)
Search on here or youtube how to find vacuum leaks and check that
Check fuel pressure
Check cylinder pressures
Check electrical connections between components and ECU

You should be able to do all of these in a relatively short amount of time.

Sounds like exactly would happen to my truck when I first got it. My problem was a combination of clogged fuel filter, shotty tps, and an assortment of vacuum leaks. While not as severe as yours, my engine would fall flat on its face any time you got hard on the gas.

so i replaced the spark plugs and wires plus the cap and rotor so now it accelerates a lot better at start up but it still doesnt run like it should. when i set its timing to factory specs, it would hardly run. it doesnt make sense.

Anybody got any ideas about my fuel pressure (tested at the LH delivery pipe as FSM says) being 38-40psi with truck on at idle (FSM range: 38-44psi)but then dropping to 0psi within seconds of turning off truck...FSM says the pressure should main above 21psi for at least 5 minutes after turning off truck. I have changed fuel filter, new reman'ed Denso injectors, new pressure regulator, all new crush washers, fuel pulsation damper seems fine, and no apparent fuel leaks. I'm thinking I need to drop my fuel tank (or remove my bed??) and replace my fuel pump?? Any other tests for fuel pump besides whats in FSM?? Any help is greatly appreciated! Other things I have done: replaced TPS, O2sensor, VAFM, and air filter. Spark plugs, wires, and rotor & cap all seem fine, plugs replaced about 1000 miles ago and wires about 2000 miles ago.
