1993 22RE 4WD Clutch Confusion
Hello,
I recently took my 1993 pickup to a local shop to have the slipping clutch replaced. They asked me to purchase parts in advance, because they'd take some time to source.
No big deal. I bought parts, clutch kit / flywheel / master and slave cylinder from yotashop.com
Aisin Clutch Kit CKT-049
Aisin Master Cylinder CMT-006
Aisin Slave Cylinder CRT-028
Luk Flywheel LFW 207
Various parts finders will match this to my truck and my VIN#, but the mechanic pulled the transmission and says the clutch / flywheel are the wrong size. In a scramble I ordered replacement parts from their local parts supplier, they haven't shown up yet, but I'm trying to get ahead of the likelihood that these new parts also won't fit.
So I went by the mechanic's and took pictures of the parts they pulled. I can't find any markings on the flywheel, and didn't bring any means of measuring (wouldn't know how to do that in any case, I'm not that handy).
What I did find out is the clutch cover that came out of my truck is stamped CTX-062, which corresponds to a smaller (earlier, 1992-era?) clutch kit, CKT-022 which I believe would match up to a different Luk flywheel LFW148.
Forgive my ignorance (if you'd be so kind) about these things, and also... the truck is currently at the shop, no transmission, so I can't take pictures or confirm anything really. Though I did take some crappy cell phone shots I can add to this post, of the old parts and the pulled transmission.
I guess my question is can anyone shed light on how interchangeable these clutches/flywheels might be? Is it a matter of trying to convince my mechanic to bolt up the Aisin parts I brought in? I'm pretty sure the hydraulics are the right parts, but they're reluctant to dive into that until the clutch/transmission is re-installed and are pointing the finger at yotashop (unfairly I'd wager).
I'm stuck between the mechanic, and two parts suppliers and will probably end up eating the return shipping on my original parts order regardless. But should the new parts be the same size, etc.... Can anyone tell me if the smaller clutch kit and flywheel model numbers above will be a direct replacement for the clutch that came out of the truck?
Any insight into how to proceed will be appreciated. And any specific knowledge about the interchangeability of these clutch components and why my truck might be a cusp-y VIN# with 1992 parts, or what could be going on... I appeal to the wisdom of the crowd.
Thanks in advance, and if there's anything else I should add by all means ask away and I will try to supply.
