The local shops are for the most part are quoting me this make of after-market clutch. I've never heard of this make but some searching on the ignor-net say they're pretty good. Any experience or word on them by actual customers?

And no...at 58 I am not bench pressing transmissions anymore!

Buy an Aisin clutch.

My 4Runner had an Exedy clutch when I bought it. It worked just fine. I'd choose an Aisin if I was buying one myself, but there was certainly nothing bad about the Exedy for a stock replacement. Marlin sells HD clutches if you need them, but they are not at all needed for a stock truck.

Well cost is a big factor now that the truck, a 04 Tacoma with 595000km's, is basically now the fishing, going to the dump,and getting a 2x4 truck. All the Asian parts even from the discount Toyota parts supplier is over $600 with tax and shipping on top of that which I estimate to be about another $125. $200 more and the local shops will do it with the Exedy. The stealership wants close to $2000 complete, plus they're about 1 1/2 hours drive away. Even though I recognise the apparent better quality of the Aisin parts it hard to justify spending $2000 on a 15 year old truck which gets drove under 10000KM's a year now.

Oh absolutely in Southern Arizona! I found a long time ago when buying across the border Double the price and add shipping plus some other extras so you don't have a shock. In case you haven't been paying attention there isn't no free trade! I might save $50 on those E-bay parts verses buying here. Been there and done it...only when I absolutely have to. You guys don't know how good you got it as far as prices go!

I've never got anything across the border for the $18 they claim in the ad! It cost me $45 shipping and handling for a gear shift knob a few years back!

Anyhow I know how ridiculously inexpensive (and available) stuff is in the US, Exedy clutches is what I want to know about.

With my truck being an automatic, I don't have any first hand experience with Exedy clutches, but I have heard they are quite good, especially for the price.

Exedy is a Japanese manufacturer of automotive and motorcycle clutches and are the OEM clutches on some vehicles.

From their customer list, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Subaru, General Motors, Ford and even Aisin Seiki itself buy from them.

Aisin would probably be my first choice with Exedy being a very close second.

I am willing to bet that you will be just fine with the Exedy clutch.

Hmmm...Two thoughts, nobody's perfect, and, yah I'm going there, don't judge us by the current leader, if you could call him that!

How about I trade you a case of that sludge, paint remover, enema, bear repellent, or any of Molsons or Labatts potions for a clutch?

I don't mean to disparage Canada, or Canadians. My dad knew many ranchers and farmers in western Canada from Cardston to Calgary and points north.

We would get fresh butcherd meat and dine with the Hutterites on occasion.

I spent many summers in western Canada when I was growing up in the late '50s and '60s and I was happy to be there.

There's no place as good as it was 40 or 50 years ago.

Since we're so off topic...no issues with me brother, I actually had a good chuckle at it.

Ah Cardston. Years ago before we moved here, the wife, her mom and I went to the "museum" in Cardston. At Fort Macleod we asked directions to Cardston and were told just turn right and you cant miss it. Some time latter I seen the sign that said MONTANA 10kms!!! WTF! Anyway the " museum" turned out to be about 100 stuffed gophers, pardon me ground squirrels, dressed like cowboys, ranchers, rig workers etc. Really I didn't mind giving up a day of fishing to see that! Actually a very nice little town, but those demented rats gave me nightmares!

When I think of Cardston, I remember that it is the hometown of Fay Wray,. King Kongs first love; and of the great firecrackers I used to get at the Chinese store there.

I never saw the gopher museum.

Yah the gopher museum was pretty close to the Remington carriage museum just a bit north of the St. Mary river. I think a lot of the gophers went to up Torrington and are on display there.
