1992 4x4 4runner Real Main Seal

Hey, Guys! I Need some Advice on How to change my rear main Seal? is it gonna take alot of work of changing the Seal? Please I need Advice! Thanks!

You will need to remove the transmission to gain access to the seal.

yeah I know! I'm planning in ripping the tranny out tomorrow! Once I do get it out is it hard to change ?

changing the seal is not hard. remove the trans, then remove the clutch and flywheel if MT or the flex plate if auto. the RMS is right there around the crankshaft. I have a hooked shaped tool that i just stab into the seal, get a grip and pull it out.

Once its out, clean the area, apply a light coating of grease around the new seal and tap it in evenly

According to the manual, you can replace the seal with or without removing the seal retainer.
