1990 4x4

I am looking to buy a 90 4x4 Ex Cab. I test drove it today and the hubs were locked in and when I put it in 4 wheel drive it started grinding. After I took it out it stopped. What is going on?

Unlock the hubs and leave the t-case in 4wd. See what it does then. It could be one or few different things.

more than likely the hubs need servicing. use that in negotiating a lower price.

Thanks

Thanks guys. I am new to the Toyota thing. I am real excited to find one for such a good price. I just want to make sure it is a sound pickup. I will do what you suggested. Thanks.

As long as it's in the hubs it isn't that big of a deal if the truck is a steal. If it's in the transmission or transfer case it still isn't too bad, but it will be more expensive.

There's nothing that can't be fixed. You just need to weigh out the savings vs cost to repair and see if its still worth it.

I talked to the owner today. He is going to have everything fixed for the same sales price. I was driving it on gravel locked in. The road was frozen. Thanks for the help
