1988 Pickup wont start
Hey there, I was changing my spark plugs and the truck would not start when I was finished. 1988 3.0 4wd Here is what I did:
Removed wires
Removed Plugs,
Put the new ones in and dropped number 5, it landed between the starter and the block and it took a while to get out.
Put wires back on
Obviously I must have touched something else, but those were all of the areas I was in.
Here are the symptoms
When I put the key into the ignition, it doesnt make any noise when the door is open.
When it is turned into accessory it does not turn on the stereo
It does not turn over
The head lamp does not work.
The tail lamps do not work
The lights turn on
I checked all of the fuses under the dash and they all look good. There is one fuse under the hood that is blown and it is on the right hand side of the fuse box. The sticker on the top is not legible but I do see a "GL"
I hope this was enough information, if not let me know what else I need to say. My thought was I must have bumped something on the starter untill I noticed the ignition sound didnt go on and the stereo would not turn on.
Thanks in advanced guys

Yea...sounds like battery to me too....but I'm assuming your truck was running fine right before you did the plugs and wires.
Does the truck try to turn over when you turn the key? At least a clicking sound?
You mentioned the starter. I only have the 4 cyl in mine but my starter has a wire bolted to it and also a plug type connection on the back (I believe I'm remember this) that may have come loose.

Try the 80amp fuse that is under the hood. Must be the one that you are looking at.
It screws in at the bottom so don't try to pry it out. Any parts store will have these.
