1987 fsm

Been looking for the 87 fsm without any luck. I did run across and download one for the 1988 truck/4runner and found several other online here.
http://manuals.co/workshop/toyota/4-runner
My question is the 88 fsm the same as the 87 fsm or did they make a lot changes between the two years?

thanks

Just enough changes to make things interesting

Mostly in the Electrical end.

Brakes Suspension Mechanical things are pretty much the same.

87 and 88 injectors are different. The O2 sensor is in the Exhaust Manifold on an 87. 88 trucks have in the exhaust pipe. 88 as a few more emissions on it then an 87. Most things other wise the 87 manual will work.

Central Florida Toyota will get them. Last one I bought was for an 81. I think it was 70 bucks or so. Also Lakeland Toyota does alot of online sales and may sell the cheaper if your actually looking for a hard copy

Yes, there are a few changes.
I have a print 1986 FSM and found that on 1988 22R-E ECU also takes part in grounding STJ. (Note the additional wiring between STJ of CSI timer and STJ of ECU below. Quite possibly same as in later engines)

I do not now about the 1987. TrafficTechII and others who have 1987's , when you get a chance, pls check is you have a wire connected to STJ pin of your ECU and let us know what color.

1987 service manual on eBay
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/322484654169

I had the hard copy for my 81. Actually sold it for more than I paid for it after greasing it up for 10 years

Rad4runner,
Mine is the 22R carb.
Did they use the same terminal block from the 22R/Carb to the 22R-E?
I will check and see what I have..

Dropzone,
Thanks for the heads up. I called CFT like flg8r22 said, they are looking for one. Thats what they told me 2 days ago...
