$1000 (PLZ no drama lamas)

K so my last thread got over run by drama lamas tryin to look cool on the internet which is just retarted. so in august ill hvae about 1000-1500 bucks. earlier i put it down like this ARB air locker-$735 ARB compressor- $250 Armor-$23....now i have some more cash and am wonderin if i should get lower gears, im gettin new tires soon thatll hopefully be 32x12.50s, is this ok with stock gears? also ive seen IFS trucks with front skid plates, id like one but will it decrese my ground clearance? thinkin about gettin new shocks too cuz my ones now arent the same, what i think are ranchos in the front and sensa-trac in the rear

If you are going to be tearing into the diff (at least one) you might as well gear. Saves money in the long run. Many here will say that protection is the most important part of any rig. TC has 33's on a stock suspension and lockers and TONS of protection. His rig goes anywhere.

I on the other hand, went straight for the lift and don't push my rig because I am afraid of damaging the door frames (other body doesn't bother me). My rig can go places I haven't even tried because I don't want to damage things too badly.

as for the skid plate are you talking about the stock one that goes on the front or something else?

as for the money you have for it now what kind of off roading do you do hard core or just a weekend worrior?

as far as the gears i have 31's on 4.10's would be nice to have 4.30's

What is your stock gearing?

4.56 or 4.88's for 32" tires would be best. Depends if you want a little extra low end grunt or a little better hwy crusing ability. Although the latter is just a waste of time since a lifted truck is about as areodynamic as a brick at speed....

The budbuilt IFS skid will not decrease your clearance at all( well perhaps a few mm ). What kind of lift are you running? As in, suspension (im guessing), drop brackets?

its not the tire diameter thats killing you, its the width.

Armor, gears/lockers, lift - in that order.

$1000 - 1500 would probably just about take care of the armor part if you shop around. Sliders, skids, front bumper, rear bumper - in that order.

My stock 4runner didn't rub with 33x10.5

When I went with 12.5 I needed some lift. But my next tire will be a 11.5 a little less tire to turn and less rolling weight but still a good look.

Did we ever figure out what gearing you had stock? I had 4.56 stock and that more than good for 33's in my opinion. Even my tired old 3.0 with 226,xxx miles does great with them and gets 19mpg.

I would spend the cash on budbuilt skid for the front, IFS brace, Shocks. Anything after that I'd put away for repair money in case you break anything

ya illl always have a couple hundred set aside for repairs i know its not much but if i brake somethin big ill save up to fix it. my friends dads used to be mechanic so anything i cant do i can go to his house and he can help me. kinda off topic but i got in an accident today.

so im sittin in the turn lane compltly on my side uh the line and this dumbass turnin on the road clips me, scrapes my front left fender and takes my mirror out. glass went flyin in the cab and cut up my left arm pretty good, good thing i had glasses on or prolly would gotten in my eye. the dumbass goes uhhhh sorry man i didnt mean to. ya that really helps man! fixes everything!! the mirror was only ten bucks to replace. the fenders scratched but not dented, probably just some buffer compound will take care of it...

Mine doesn't rub with 33x10.50 at all - stock height, stock rims, pinchweld beating. You might need to slightly trim the lower valance too
